The perception of sustainability and true sustainability are not the same thing. Wood paper and bamboo do not always equal "green". How far are the material sources from the factory? How much fuel is used to transport the product or package from the factory to the retail shelf? Even if a material has a recycle symbol and a material number, is there an infrastructure in place locally to collect and recycle it? Are there any colorants or inks or laminates that prevent the object from integrating within the recycle stream?
